Beautiful work…

I am proud to be one of the 12 ceramic artists featured in Raku Currents. This art exhibition is organized by the Steelville Arts Council, in Steelville, MO, and juried by Wayne Higby, whom the American Craft Museum considers a “visionary of the American Crafts Movement.”

Wayne Higby’s work is held in the permanent collections of numerous art museums around the world, including the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American Art in Washington, DC. Two years ago I had the chance to see Infinite Place: The Ceramic Art of Wayne Higby at the Renwick Gallery, and was particularly impressed by his innovative use of raku, as well as the large wall compositions.

Raku Currents is on from July 11 through August 2 at Gallery Zeke, the fine arts gallery of the Steelville Arts Council. The Artists’ Reception and Wayne Higby presentation will be held on Saturday, July 18, at 3PM.
